Hey All,

Just a quickie.

Has anyone had experience of dealing with ScootRS? (Of course we have, you cry.....)

I ordered one of their outboard disc brake set ups just over a month ago and paid at the time, as you do. I got a message saying that it would be 'slow'. When I emailed them I got a message back in unrecognisable English (?) saying that, I think, my profile page would update me when it was about to be shipped. I then got an update saying it was expected to be dispatched on July 18th, and then on July 18th I get another saying 'slow' and that dispatch was expected to be around the 8th August!! I emailed again stating that I needed a firm date when they would be sending out the goods that they were quite happy to take £250 or so for last month and heard............ Sweet FA from them!

So, could anyone out there tell me whether this is usual practise for ScootRS? Is their stuff worth waiting for? Are they a bit dodgy to deal with? Or does anyone over here actually stock their stuff rather than getting it in (I could then cancel my order with them, I guess...)? I was kind of hoping to get my brakes sorted out and tested before the Isle of Wight......2010!!!!

Thanks in advance.........

I ordered 2 rebuild kits for my single seats. Paid for them there and then and chose the slowest delivery because it was the cheapest. They did arrive eventually but I was worried for a time whether I'd done the right thing buying off someone round the other side of the world. The quality of the parts when they did arrive was ok, nothing special but servicable. Hope this helps.

Worth waiting for IMO, but agree the site should tel you at the time of ordering if out of stock. Mine was delayed 2 weeks but they sent emails telling me. I did get a bill for import tax and an even bigger handling charge from the carrier but it was around £20 and still cheaper (just) than ones I had been offered in the UK. I have to say I wanted an RS one and not one of the sand cast ones, that some sell as RS, when they often substitute for other brands when they don't have stock.
Scoot RS get a lot of flack, but the disks they sell have got to be the number one improvement to any standard scooter and again IMO, a must have, if its not a standard scooter.

I thought i would try them out a few years back, ordered a number plate backplate, a spare wheeel holder, and a spare wheel cover all for my Lambretta LD.

The backplate looked like it han been hammered out by a five year old, the spare wheel holder was a terrible casting, the base being all out of shape, and the spare wheel cover looked nice, but was too small to fit a 4.00x8 tyre in it !

Binned the lot !!!

So, lesson learnt, don't bother with them ever again ! Crap !!!!

Wixy

Thanks Fellas,
I get the general picture! I did at last receive a message from them apologising for the delay but still no guarantee on the dispatch date :-/

I'll wait this time, would much rather have bought from here if I could have but I couldn't find a decent one that still used an original looking front hub.

Lesson learned, last resort in future. Surprised they haven't got a fully stocked UK outlet really, they must sell most of their stuff over here.

You live and learn, just hope it lives up to expectations when it finally arrives.....
